Obesity treatment and obesitology
Pharmacological treatment of obesity
At Bednarek Clinic we offer modern support in the fight against overweight and obesity. Effectively, safely, under the care of an obesitologist.
Pharmacological treatment of obesity provides effective support for people struggling with excessive body weight when diet and physical activity do not work.
This innovative approach is based on individually tailored drug therapy that regulates appetite, affects metabolism, and helps achieve and maintain a healthy weight – under medical supervision.
Who is this therapy for?
We target pharmacological treatment of obesity:
- Overweight (BMI ≥ 27) and comorbid health problems (e.g., insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension),
- with obesity (BMI ≥ 30) who have not achieved lasting results with previous weight reduction attempts,
- Those preparing for surgical or aesthetic procedures for which weight reduction is recommended,
- Those wishing to take comprehensive care of their health and figure under the guidance of a specialist.
What does the treatment process look like?
- Medical consultation – detailed history, health assessment, analysis of test results, measurements, discussion of existing methods of weight management and discussion of the goal.
- Selection of the right product – based on medical indications, lifestyle and patient expectations.
- Monitoring therapy – regular follow-up visits, adjusting dosages and evaluating treatment effects.
- Dietary and behavioral support – the opportunity to consult with a nutritionist and psychodietitian to maximize results and sustainably change habits.
Drugs used
In therapy, we use modern preparations approved in the European Union, including GLP-1 analogues, which:
- Reduce appetite and feelings of hunger,
- prolong the feeling of satiety,
- Regulate blood glucose levels,
- Support gradual and safe weight reduction.
How to prepare for the visit?
- Current test results – bring your blood test results (CBC, lipidogram, glucose, TSH), thyroid tests, liver tests, uric acid. If you have other results (e.g., ultrasound), also include them.
- List of medications and supplements taken – make an inventory of all medications (prescription and over-the-counter), vitamins and dietary supplements.
- Medical history – write down the diseases you are being treated for, hospitalizations you have had, and a list of other specialists you visit.
- Weight history – recall your highest weight, previous weight loss attempts and what worked.
- Referral – make sure you have a referral from your doctor with you, if required.
- Food diary – for 3-7 days prior to your appointment, record all meals and drinks consumed, their times, portion sizes and ingredients.
- Activity diary – make a note of what physical activity you do, how often and at what intensity.
- Reflect on habits – think about what causes you to have an increased appetite (e.g., stress, boredom) and how you sleep.
- Prior examination – arrive at the clinic 15-20 minutes early to fill out the necessary forms.
Drug treatment is selected individually, taking into account contraindications and possible side effects.
Why is it worth it?
- Effective help where diet and training fail
- Safe therapy under medical supervision
- Improved health parameters (blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol)
- Support in the process of lifestyle change
- Increase motivation and sustained results
